Wow, so you know how Dale wanted to find a manager now - and I was like, eh, whatever, we can just find a little brother whenever. Well, turns out we were both right - and wrong. Turns out Melvin - who plays the tambourine has a little brother who wanted to come on the road with us. Melvin told us that he'd gotten in some legal trouble with possession or something, so he could also use the job. Anyway, I just wanted to show off how I could find people, so I looked up this kid. Um - not possession, he got in trouble for identity theft! Yeah, probably not someone we want managing our lives, just a thought. Anyway, check out this juicy bit of search engine news.
Dale came up to me the other day fretting that we should probably find ourselves a band manager to help us out on the road or whatever. Even though we don't need one yet, he said it was important to have one we trust, so that when we get big, we don't have to vet someone we don't even know who may have some weird teenage revenge fantasies or whatever. Frankly, I don't think it will be hard to find someone, but it's not like I'm that worried about doing a background check either. But I'll let you know. I'm sure one of us has a younger brother or something who'd love to go on the road with a rock band.

I was able to find Dale pretty easily, actually, using the people search engines I'm always going on and on about on this blog. Hella crazy, huh? Yeah, I said hella. So what? Sue me. We've been using that term an awful lot lately... we're thinking of doing something with it for our next record. Maybe a song title, or maybe an overall theme for the album. I know No Doubt did a song called "Hella Good," but ours is gonna be hella better. Anyway, Dale has really really helped us with the rest of the work that has to be done on the record. Who knew just making the music wasn't enough? Craziness, I tell you. I think he has some personal stake in our success, which leads me to believe he might want to get us signed. That'd be cool, but then again, is a record deal really the path to success nowadays? Our drummer, Graig, thinks we should just release it independently online, like Radiohead's last one. Sure, we're not Radiohead level (yet), but I think it could work out for us. Get a myspace page up, get the buzz going... yeah. I could see that happening. So a lot to process for the band, for sure. Almost no time for people search, but I'm not really needing it right now, to be honest. Oh, and read here on How to Defend Against Cheerleaders. Hopefully we'll have that problem on the road backstage! Yeah baby, yeahhhh!
After a few missteps, the band is back on track. In total we've cut about forty tracks. Forty, people. Now, I'll admit that not all of em are classic material, but we have about 25 or 30 good solid songs. Nowadays, most bands can't even get two good songs on an album, so I think we're in pretty good shape. We just need the distribution. We need a shot at it. There's the internet (duh) but I'm talking national exposure. We've played a few shows here and there with a couple other bands in the area, but here's just no real musical community solidarity around here. I wish I was somewhere like Madchester or Seattle during the late 80s...can you imagine playing in an environment like that with so much musical talent flourishing? Damn...that'd be crazy. If I'm typing funny or somehow more cogent it's cause all is right with the world. I mean, things can't be THAT bad if the biggest problem we're facing as a band is what songs to cut from the final album. Plus, I think I might be able to find people who can help us get signed. See, we were having some beers and I ran into Gus, this old friend from school. Gus told me that Dale, another old friend, is heavily involved in the music industry. Didn't have any contact info, thoguh, so I gotta do it the hard way. I can always find people if I need to so I'm not too worried. That's all the band news I got for ya. I found a hilarious rant To RateMyCop.com. Check it out. I've been eating a lot healthier too, taking omega 3 supplements and whatnot. Things are good :)
Dudes, we are completely rocking out. I dunno if it's Super Hans or what, but something has us completely tearing the roof off of everyone one of our practice sessions. He's definitely improved our finished sound, like the stuff we record, but he's also changed the way we play. I think it's that we're just crazy inspired by our recordings or something so that we just bring the heat every single time now. Or maybe it's the ever present threat of Super Hans laying hands on you if you come weak. For example, last week Graig came to practice late, plus he was wasted. I mean, falling down. Knocked over the drums. Super Hans just walked over to him, picked him up off the floor like a puppy, and tossed him into the wall. Like, no shit, tossed him right into the wall! Graig just crumpled. After a few slaps to the face by Hans, he wakes up, shakes the fuzz from his mind, and gets up and starts rocking. No questions asked. Hans is crazy, he's fucking nuts, but it works, dudes, it works. He makes us focus, and isn't just our producer...he's our hype man, our coach, our manager. Some of the guys were a little unsure about Super Hans early on, they wanted me to go search people and find someone else, but I said hell no! And look at us now. If I had given in and used a people finder to get a new guy, we wouldn't be rocking nearly as hard as we are now. But don't get me wrong; I still know how to find people. Check the links if you don't know. Also check out Rant Farm - To The Woman Who Insists On Putting Clothes On Her Dog. Hella funny.
Whats up my people!? Guess what? We found a producer. He is crazy intense and kinda scary, but he's really working out so far. Didn't find that kid from high school I was hoping too, which was unfortunate at first. This new guy's gonna work out though. His name is Hans, Super Hans in fact, and he's this big yolked Austrian dude with bleached blond spiked hair and piercings in every possible place. Crazy dude. He gets in your face and just screams and hollers until you get the sound right. But it freakin works, man. It freakin works! We're playing better than ever and he's tightening up the sound. Yeah, dude! So although people search didn't technically help me find people, it still can so don't give up if you want to find people. Heck, I've gotten so good at this people search thing my sister is always calling me to help her find someone. This time I gotta help her with finding a sitter. Okay, back to the studio!
The band is truly coming together peoples. We played a tiny show (at our boy Spin's house party) on New Year's Eve and we freakin rocked the house! Since then we just hunkered down in the studio and been cutting tracks left and right and lovin it. We're not ready to face the world but everyone who hears the new stuff loves it. Serious dude, this is for real. I think we're gonna make it. One thing is, our music is hella raw. We just need a producer to tighten our sound up. I've been trying to search people cause there's this one kid from our high school that I know got into music production and always had a real good ear for music. Hopefully we find him. Man, person lookup is the best (except for rockin out!). Oh and check out Bebo. We plan on joining once our music is ready to show to the masses. It looks better than any of the other social sites. Peace out!
Well band's taking a little break with the holiday coming up, so it give me more time to find people by people searching online. Today's blog is gonna be quick, cuz I gots to get on the road to get to my grandmothers tonight for Thanksgiving tomorrow. But I want to share some sites I found on people search. This guys blog is quite funny, he's an ex-con, who used to steal women's dresses, trying to get it together Find Someone. Found a couple more that have some great information and links to finding someone, anyone...check um out Find People , and Finding People Like You.
Well over the river and through the woods to grandmothers house I go! Have a HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
Our reunion was AWESOME, the band's back together. The guys have all moved back here and we're practicing everyday, we're gonna make it, for sure this time. We are sounding better than ever and the break was really good for us creative-wise. We've never done better stuff. We've got a couple of cool gigs lined up for next month, but the one we're most excited about is the Hard Rock Cafe Unsigned Band Competition, we're gonna rock it out! and hopefully get a record deal. Unfortunatley people search has had to take a back seat to the band this month, but I did find these three awesome ways to find people:
Find People
Person Search
